Rolf Gradinger (rgradinger@ims.uaf.edu) has been interested in polar ecology since his first Arctic expedition in 1984. He has been teaching biological oceanography and sea ice ecology at UAF since 2001.

Hajo Eicken (hajo.eicken@gi.alaska.edu) is interested in the growth and decay processes of sea ice, its properties and their importance for physical-biological interactions.

Our research project is funded through the National Science Foundation, and additional support of the Geophysical Institute and the School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences. Logistical support during the work in Barrow is provided through the Barrow Arctic Science Consortium.
