This project was funded for the time period 2004 to 2006 with field sampling in spring 2005 and 2006 Alaska.

Main Objectives:

Our major objectives were:

- Biological component:

(1) assess the diversity and abundance of animal life in sea ice near rural Alaskan communities

(2) produce a digital catalogue of the sea ice inhabitant encountered

- Outreach:
(1) involve the public in the rural communities into our research efforts
(2) involve local students in the research program
(3) produce material to be used by teachers in class room environment.
