National Ocean Science Bowl Fund
NOSB brings together teams of high school students from around Alaska in a round-robin marine science quiz-bowl-style competition. The goal of NOSB is to increase knowledge of the oceans on the part of high school students, their teachers and parents, and raise public understanding of the national investment in ocean-related research.SFOS sponsors the Alaska edition of the National Ocean Science Bowl (NOSB) each year. The Alaska Region National Ocean Science Bowl is known as the Tsunami Bowl. It consists of two equally weighted parts: a tournament-style academic competition designed to challenge and recognize students' knowledge of sciences in the context of the oceans and a project with written and oral components. The NOSB fund is used to support the Alaska National Ocean Science activities including transportation of the high school teams to the Seward for the contest.
