Masters/Doctorate Degree Programs

UAF School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences
SFOS offers the MS degree in biological, chemical, fisheries, geological, and physical oceanography; marine biology; fisheries; and seafood science and nutrition (interdisciplinary degree). The Ph.D. is offered in marine biology, oceanography, fisheries and in an interdisciplinary program in seafood science and nutrition. There are no fixed course requirements, nor is an MS degree required to earn the Ph.D, although the student is expected to complete course work at least equivalent to that required for the M.S. degree. Depending on the student's faculty advisor and research interest, students can complete their degrees in Fairbanks, Seward, Juneau, or Kodiak! Another fascinating degree program is the MS/Ph.D in Marine Ecosystem Sustainability in the Arctic and Subarctic (MESAS). This interdisciplinary graduate program educates future leaders in ecosystem-based management and sustainable uses of living marine resources.
Alaska Pacific University also has MS programs in Biological Sciences and Environmental Science. The University of Alaska Anchorage also offers an MS in Biological Sciences with a collaborative Ph.D program with UAF.
