Kodiak Seafood and Marine Science Center

After three decades as the Fishery Industrial Technology Center, the School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences Kodiak facility will now be called the Kodiak Seafood and Marine Science Center.
University of Alaska Board of Regents approved the change in December 2011 with the support of the SFOS dean, UAF chancellor and UA president.

Brown Bag Lunch Seminar Series
Kodiak Seafood and Marine Science Center, and Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge are co- sponsoring a weekly lecture each Thursday at the Refuge's Visitor Center in downtown Kodiak. Lectures begin at noon, and are free and open to the public. [more]

January-May – Kodiak Brown Bag Lunch Seminar Series – every Thursday at noon at the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center. Upcoming April 26, "A Whale of a Problem: Testing Acoustic Deterrents to Reduce Bycatch", Marine Advisory Program Marine Mammal Specialist, Kate Wynne.
Tuesday, April 10 – "Talk to the Rock" on KMXT will feature Kate Wynne and Stacey Studebaker discussing Kodiak's whales.
Wednesday, April 11 – North Pacific Fishery Management Council Process: A Workshop for Fishermen and Residents, 6-8 pm at the Best Western/Kodiak Inn – [Learn more]
April 12-14 – ComFish Alaska – the Kodiak Seafood and Marine Science Center will have a table.
April 20-30 – Whalefest in Kodiak
May 3-4 – Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point workshop (HACCP).
HACCP is a process that has been established for seafood processing to prevent foodborne illness. This workshop helps Alaska seafood processors set up and carry out this federally mandated program. [Register/Learn more]
