Awards and Recognition Received by the SFOS Community

Dr. Charles Crapo

Dr. Charles Crapo, Professor of Seafood Science and MAP, received the following awards:

This award is given for individuals with the following qualifications:

•Contributions to the profession of seafood science and technology in industry, academia, government, and/or related organizations. Contributions may include but are not limited to: research achievements, as evidenced by publications, patents, and presentations; industry achievements, such as research management; innovative product and/or process development; inventions or patents; and enhancements in safety and quality systems.

•Honors, awards and other evidence of recognition within the profession.

•Other evidence of leadership and achievements within the profession. For example: the organization of, or participation in conferences; service on industrial, academic, governmental, and/or on international committees; training programs; internal or external advisory activities; and promoting participation in AFTC activities.

•Service to Atlantic Fisheries Technology Conference (AFTC). This includes participation in national or regional AFTC-related activities. In the case of a member residing outside the United States or Canada, service will be considered in other seafood association's lieu of or in addition to service to AFTC.

The Earl P. McFee Award certificate

The award was presented in absentia to Dr. Crapo during the 3rd Joint Trans-Atlantic Fisheries Technology Conference (TAFT) and WEFTA held from 15-18 September 2009, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Each biennium, the International Association of Fish Inspectors honors individuals for career contributions to the profession of seafood inspection, science and technology and, related fields, in industry, academia, government, and/or related organizations.

Contributions may include but are not limited to: research achievements, as evidenced by publications, patents, and presentations; industry achievements, such as research management; innovative product, process or equipment development; inventions or patents; and enhancements in safety and quality systems, and training and training development in any related professions.

These awards are distributed to recipients during the World Seafood Congress, which was held in Agadir, Morocco, October 3-7, 2009. Dr. Crapo received this award in absentia during the World Seafood Congress.
