Graduate Program Admissions
Marine Biology & Oceanography
Admission to graduate study toward a graduate degree in marine biology or oceanography will conform to the basic requirements as prescribed in the General catalog of the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. An applicant must have at least a 3.0 (out of 4.0) grade point average for work done toward the baccalaureate degree, and must have scored at the 55 percentile in at least two of the three areas (verbal, quantitative, analytical) of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), unless other qualifications, such as extensive research experience, justify an exception.
To be accepted into a graduate degree program, applicants must be assigned to an eligible faculty member of the school who is willing to serve as a major advisor. Although not required, it is strongly recommended that funding be available to support the student.
