The course covers the principles of fisheries management, along with case studies of successes and failures. Topics include management objectives, relationships of fished species to their environment, fishing methods, human dimensions, fishery data acquisition, harvest strategies, ecosystem effects of fishing, aquaculture, and alternative management strategies, including ecosystem-based fishery management.
